This month I catch up with Michelle Morris to see what she has been doing in the year since she trained with me as a Makeup Artist.
What made you decide to train as a Makeup Artist?
I trained in the beauty industry when I left school over 10 years ago I had always intended to add make up to my skills as it was always a passion of mine. I have always loved experimenting with make up and watching the different techniques used by different people. I am always amazed at how the correct products and application can result in bringing out someone’s natural beauty.
What did the course give you?
It gave me the knowledge I needed to be able to use my creativity and apply it to make up. I learnt techniques and tricks of the trade from Pamela that have been crucial to my make up career. I gained confidence working on different peoples skin types, face shapes etc and experimenting with different products.
What you have done since the course?
Since the course I have been very lucky and gained a lot of experience assisting artists and working on photoshoots. I have also taken many wedding bookings and worked with a number of different photographers within studio environments. More recently I have been working with a bridal makeup agency on luxury weddings and editorial shoots.
What your plans are for the future?
I aim to grow my freelance business, I love working on weddings and hope that I will gain bookings through recommendation from this years bookings.
What would you say to anyone thinking of training as a Makeup Artist?
If it’s your passion, go for it! I left it years before I was confident enough to go ahead and do a course. I wish I had done it sooner!!
Michelle is now a member of renowned celebrity makeup artist Gemma Sutton’s pro team for weddings.
